Sleeping...
She is such a good baby. Wakes up just once a night to eat and goes right back to sleep. I've not put her on a feeding schedule like I usually do with my babies. I'm trying something new...called demand feeding. lol!
She weighed 8lb. 8oz. on her 1 week checkup. I wasn't expecting to have a small baby. I know she's not tiny, but compared to the last two 9lb+ babies...she is little. I even had to go out and buy smaller diapers because the ones I had were too big.
(But I thought you used cloth?)
Uh, huh. I do. And when I'm feeling well enough to keep up with the laundry we already generate I will start using them again. I haven't used them for a while now...since my hips went. Shouldn't be too much longer. I'm seeing a chiropractor. She says she can help me. Hooray!

Details...
...and pictures, as promised. She weighs 8lbs. 11oz. and is 20 inches long.
This was a shock. My babies have never had this much hair and certainly not so black. I hope she keeps it...I think it's beautiful.
I went to bed Tuesday night with the normal pains I've been having for the last 3 weeks and woke up in labor around 1am. I timed contractions for 1/2 hour, but when they quickly got to be 5-7 minutes apart and began to really hurt...I decided it was time to wake Caleb.
It didn't take Caleb long to figure out he needed to start filling the birth pool...immediately! The contractions progress very quickly. Caleb called the midwives. The time frame is all a bit hazy for me. I thought the midwives arrived about an hour before the baby. Caleb informed me they actually showed up 13 minutes before Elisa. It felt like an eternity to me. Pushing lasted maybe 5 minutes. She was born at 4:18am.
We had the delightful experience of introducing our boys to their little sister around 6am when they started stirring from their beds. I love this part of a home birth. I know it doesn't always work out, but it has for us 3 times. The awe on their faces is just wonderful.
I am feeling quite well, considering. It will take a while before my hips are working properly again. This pregnancy really did a number on me. I certainly am enjoying nursing, cuddling and snuggling with my baby daughter though. I can hardly believe we actually have a girl. I am so glad God blessed our family with her.

No Labor, Please!
Anyone out there praying that I have this baby soon can stop now.
I don't want to go into labor until tomorrow night.
We accidentally ran out of oil yesterday.
Meaning no heat...no hot water.
Not exactly a home water birth friendly situation.
Oil will be delivered tomorrow afternoon sometime.
Feel free to then resume prayers, thoughts, hopes, wishes of labor.

Out of the blue...
we got a phone call today saying that our internet was hook up and working. Yeah!!! It was an accident. They were actually meant to turn on our neighbor's internet, but turned on ours instead. And even though they were set on making us wait longer (for absolutely no reason) they will leave it on. :)
Which means you all have not missed the birth. I haven't yet decided if I will do progress reports during labor. Not feeling very sharing this time around...blame it on the hormones. Ha!
But I will be able now to post pictures as soon as she is born.
The thought in my mind right now is...
"Is she going to come out a he?"
I know it can happen.
