What's wrong with this picture?

Seth "wrote" his name on the bathroom tiles. In case your curious he put the "e" up first. Looks like my incredibly gorgeous, kind, sensitive, smart husband maybe not only passing on his good looks, brain, personality traits and his fast metabolism, but also his dyslexia as well.

I know we can't know for sure because of one incident, but it is something we are looking out for as both Caleb and his dad are dyslexic. Not a real biggie though, it would just mean that Seth sees the world differently then I and he would have to work a bit harder academically as his dad has.

Mirror writing (there is actually a term for it) is very common in all children ages 3-5. Has something to do with brain and fine motor functioning together. I have degree in elem. ed. and we studied about it. I even case-studied a girl who was four who could write STORIES all completely mirror imaged. She eventually lost that ability about the time she began kindergarten. If he's still doing it mid-way through K then you might have to look closer, but right now I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I like the new topper.

My Lily will be seven in a few weeks, and language arts are her strength. She is very, clearly not dyslexic. And she still mirror writes some things, even her own name at times, which is obviously the most familiar thing that she writes. I wouldn't be too concerned just yet. He is still so young. WTG on writing his name with those letters...that's the first step!!

I agree with Andria, I wouldn't worry about it at all yet... pretty common in youngsters :o)

Hello...hello...hello?

I'm beginning to hear an echo here. Where did Dawn who has such "joy of boys" go??

I hope she is just too busy enjoying her boys to post. :)

Tanner does that too and he is almost done with his kindergarten year. Another thing he did just 2 days ago, he wrote in mirror writing....upside down. So, since I was across the table from him, it was rightside up but completely backwards, letters and all. He looked so proud of himself! Good luck!
